As a renowned international interior designer and purveyor of antiques, William R. Eubanks has mastered the subtleties of timeless design: French and English antiques, oriental porcelains, sumptuous silks, damask fabrics and jewel-tone colors. From being named one of the top fifty designers in the U.S. by Element of Living to receiving the inaugural “Star of Design” award from the Design Center of the Americas, Eubanks credits his success to his love of meeting people and the innate ability to interrupt how his clients perceive themselves living, day to day, in the spaces he designs.

Eubanks believes there is nothing more personal than an individual putting his or her trust in an “outsider” to design their living space. Therefore, his design philosophy is completely client-centric. The client’s requirements and style sensibilities receive the utmost attention and consideration. Eubanks knows his work must be a reflection of his client…their personalities, their unique requirements. “We are the most successful when we see the project through their eyes,” say Eubanks.

Eubanks is inspired by new and exciting design discoveries - new motifs and fabrics, objets d’art, architecture and furnishing discovered through study and travel. Eubanks’ love of travel stems from his childhood when his parents taught him the importance of making the journey - that the more one sees and observes, the more creative one can become. And indeed, Eubanks spends a great amount of time traveling from location to location across the globe. Currently with offices in New York, Memphis and Palm Beach he has found that each of these cities moves to a rhythm of its own. And, each has a markedly different style.

Says Eubanks of New York, “Space is at a premium, so clients require functional, organized use of that space. New York also embodies quite a serious business atmosphere, and my design, whether traditional or modern, demands a more serious approach.”

On Memphis, “Memphis has its own culture and graceful Southern way of life. In interior design, it has held to the classics - an homage to the city’s heritage and tradition - even when the design is pared down to a modern sensibility.”

And, regarding Palm Beach, Eubanks says “Palm Beach is a playful, laid-back and more relaxed lifestyle. Here, I have the luxury of working with much larger spaces. I love to create interiors that reflect a more languid way of life. A home in Palm Beach can be a sprawling Mizner home or an oceanfront penthouse, but the mood is always light and airy.”

Whether designing in these cities, Hong Kong, Los Angeles…or anywhere in the worked, Eubanks’ goal is the same: to make clients feel at home in the space designed uniquely for them.
